Asking the Guardian Spirit for Advice?
It is possible for the shaman to consult with their animal spirits. “This kind of consultation is commonly called ‘divination‘ in the anthropological literature. A common reason to consult one’s power animal is to obtain advice regarding some personal problem. Another reason is to consult with the power animal concerning the nonordinary cause and treatment of a patient’s illness.” page 96
Communication from animal spirits can also happen through dreams, specifically a type called a “big” dream. Big dreams are “repeated several times in the same basic way on different nights, or it is a one-time dream that is so vivid that it is like being awake, an unusually powerful dream. Big dreams are usually communications from your guardian spirit, your power animal. Sometimes the guardian itself appears in the big dream, sometimes not.” (page 99)
Power Objects
Power objects are physical objects which have a spiritual aspect to it that a person is attracted to. A rabbit’s foot is an example of this. The object can be almost anything but its usually an object that attracts you. The most powerful object in shamanism is the quartz crystal. It is viewed as a spirit helper and is used for manipulating power, seeing and divination. Interestedly the quartz crystal is used in modern physics to manipulate power, to make radio transmitters and computers. Coincidence?
How does the crystal work as a spiritual helper? A Paipai shaman stated: “When you carry that in your pocket, in your dreams it tells you everything, that crystal. It tells you what you are going to do, what you ask it. And it gives you everything. You need to carry it in your pocket. Yes, if you want to a shaman then you must do this.” (page 112)
So What Does All This Mean?
People who practice Shamanism do so because it works. If it didn’t work they wouldn’t do it. Sicknesses are being healed, some bad situations in life are turned into good ones, the people who practice it are gaining benefits they didn’t have before. The spirits they communicate with are real and the help Shamans receive from them is REAL. The question is, who are these spirits really?
Who is Lucifer?
The bible describes there is only one God and He created the universe, planets, stars, plants, animals, people and everything. He also created beings called angels. Angels were made to serve God in love.
One angel in particular was the mightiest and brightest God made, not equal with God, but still the most powerful angel. His name was Lucifer. There is a possibility from certain bible passages that one of his tasks was a music director, singing praises to God. Whatever his tasks were he eventually became lifted up with pride and decided one day that he was better than God, in fact, he wanted God to serve …him! He became self-deluded. He wanted to be God!
Isaiah 14:12-14
12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’
The bible says he convinced a third of the angels to follow him in rebellion against God. Because of this Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven and his name changed to satan or the devil. He is usually referred to in the bible as a serpent or dragon. He is a deceiver of the whole world.
Like 10:18
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Revelation 12:7-9
7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Jesus said Satan is a liar…all he does is lie.
John 8:44 NKJV
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Satan and the angels, which are now called demons, are currently on the earth deceiving people into following and worshipping him instead of God.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
These angels reside in the atmosphere of earth.
Ephesians 2:2
in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
Ephesians 6:11-12
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The bible also describes demons possessing human beings, controlling their bodies and thoughts.
Lets summarize what we know so far:
1. They sing,
2. Lucifer and some angels rebelled against God and were kicked out of heaven,
3. They fell to the earth,
4. Satan is called the serpent or dragon,
5. All they do is lie and deceive,
6. They reside in the atmosphere,
7. They want people to worship them instead of God,
8. They are evil,
9. Their spirits can possess human beings,
10. They have pride and want you to join them in rebellion against God.
11. They came to earth because they are running from an enemy.
