I ran across a story of a well known spiritual leader in India who is on life support. He needs kidney dialysis and needs a ventilator to breath. He has millions of followers in India and many more from more than 100 countries around the world.

His followers believe him “to be a living god, and the reincarnation of the great spiritual guru, Sai Baba of Shirdi, who died in 1918.” Miracles have been attributed to him such as a “mysterious sounding of drums” which “signalled his impending birth.” When he was a teenager “he is said to have begun singing verses in Sanskrit, a language of which he had no prior knowledge, and then became able to materialize flowers and sweets to the astonishment of observers.”

The article went on to say he is reported to have “an ability to remember his past lives, a frequent claim of Indian holy men, and he is believed to produce sacred ash every day.”

Lets compare this man to Jesus Christ, who also claims to be God.  After all, Satya Sai Baba is supposed to be a “living god” so why not compare the two?

Jesus created the universe and He has all authority.  Sai Baba of Shirdi never claimed that.

Colossian 1:15-18
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.Jesus made the universe.

Hebrews 1:1-3
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Jesus claims to be…almighty God Himself!

Revelation 1:8
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Jesus is called the “everlasting Father” and “Mighty God.”

Isaiah 9:6
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

These are just a few verses.  There are so many more.

With all due respect to Indian beliefs, why would anyone waste their time worshipping someone who is dying in a hospital?  Someone who is basically like…the followers that follow him.  Do Indians worship gods like themselves?  Jesus created the universe…out of nothing!  He even created this “Living God” who is now dying in a hospital!

Why not put your trust in INFINITE WISDOM?  Why not put your belief in someone who is WORTHY of your entire devotion?  Someone who truly is alive forever!

Revelation 1:18
18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

He decided when you would be born, where you will live and how long.  He did this to give you the best opportunity to seek Him so you can know Him.

Acts 17:22-31
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: 24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ 29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. 30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

The bible also says Jesus never sinned once.  However, everyone who reads this post has sinned, including Sai Baba the living god.  We have all lied, stolen, blasphemed God’s holy name, lusted and done so many other things which are against His laws.  Since God is holy, just and righteous He should send us to hell.  But God is also rich in mercy, and gracious.  He has provided a way for you to be forgiven of the sins you do.

God stepped off His throne and came to Earth as a man named Jesus Christ.  He willingly died on a cross to take the punishment you deserve for your sins.  If you completely trust in Christ to save you from hell He will save you from it.  But you must forsake all other gods and worship Him and Him alone.  If you cry to Him, turn from your sins and humble yourself before Him He will save you from hell and take you to Heaven when you die.

Take the good person test to see if you are good enough to go to heaven.
